The LPA uses a full string, which includes the SM-DP+ address and activation code, to download and install the operator’s profile onto the eSIM.

The LPA string is typically formatted as follows: LPA:1$SM-DP+Address$ActivationCode.
In this string, LPA:1 signifies the LPA version, SM-DP+Address is the location of the SM-DP+ server, and ActivationCode is a unique identifier for the eSIM profile on the SM-DP+ server.
Installing on iOS and Android
The method of installing an eSIM profile using the SM-DP+ address and activation code differs slightly between iOS and Android devices due to the variations in their operating systems.
For iOS devices, navigate to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan.
You’ll then be prompted to enter the LPA string, which includes the SM-DP+ address and activation code. Once entered, the LPA will liaise with the SM-DP+ server to download and install the profile.
On Android devices, the process is similar but begins in the Network & Internet settings.
From there, navigate to Mobile Network > Advanced > Carrier > Add Carrier. Then, input the LPA string, and the LPA will handle the rest.
The SM-DP+ address and activation code may seem like tech jargon, but they’re fundamental to the operation of eSIM technology.
